For those who have already visited Farleigh - perhaps you might share your handbooks here? How old is your castle guidebook? 🤔
One day it could be a historic document! 📜
The very first guide to Farleigh Hungerford Castle was written in the 1850s by the parish curate and eminent antiquarian, Reverend J. E. Jackson. Since then the Ministry of Works, the predecessor of English Heritage, printed guides in 1946 and 1967, and English Heritage have produced wonderfully detailed and illustrated guidebooks, including the current Red Guide written by historian Charles Kightly 📖.
