He was admitted to Trinity College Dublin on 7 February (1718) 1719, together with his twin brother Thomas, at which time they were aged 18 (Alumni Dublinenses, 1924, p 212). He lived at Gortigrenane, Cork.

Achilles Daunt and Ann Daunt were married in 1742 in Co Cork, by licence (Cork Marriage Licence Bonds Index). A post-nuptial settlement was made in 1744 (Gloucestershire Archives D979A/T7).

Achilles and Ann were first cousins. Achilles’ father Thomas Daunt was the brother of Ann’s father Henry Daunt.

Achilles died between 1756 and 1761, perhaps 27 December 1760, at Gortigrenane. He made a will dated 22 November 1756 at Gortigrenane. The will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Ireland by his widow Ann in 1761 (Probate copy, Gloucestershire Archives D2078/BOX 7/11). The will mentioned his father Thomas of Owlpen, Gloucestershire, his wife Ann, his only son Thomas, and his twin brother Thomas of Owlpen. (Betham’s Genealogical Abstracts: Prerogative Wills [Phillips Mss] v 10 B 1581-1766 p 99). His son Thomas inherited Owlpen Manor from Achilles’ twin brother Thomas.

Children

Achilles and Ann had six children and about 22 grandchildren. The order of birth is uncertain; that given below is taken from O’Hart’s Irish Pedigrees. In 1771 Ann Jr was described as the eldest surviving daughter; Thomas’ date of birth is usually given as 1755; Mildred gave birth to 11 children between 1773 and 1796 suggesting a birth date of 1753.
