Thomas Daunt and Elizabeth Synge were married by licence in 1697 (Cork and Ross Marriage Licence Bonds).

In 1706 Thomas inherited the Daunt ancestral manor of Owlpen under the 1664 will of his grandfather Thomas Daunt, who had four sons: the first, Thomas, predeceased his father leaving an only daughter Anne who died in childbirth; the second, John, died unmarried at Owlpen on 12 June 1642; the third, Achilles, died unmarried at Owlpen on 2 February (1705) 1706; and the fourth, George, died in 1697 leaving two sons Thomas and Henry.

It appears that Thomas and Elizabeth moved from Ireland to Owlpen at this time, as their son John was baptised at Owlpen in April 1706. In 1709 Thomas was administrator of the estate of his uncle Achilles (Administration Bond, 19 February (1708) 1709, Consistory Court of Gloucester wills 1708/29).

In his will of 14 February (1745) 1746 Thomas described himself as of Owlpen. He left lands at Owlpen and at Gortigrenane, Cork to his wife Elizabeth, then successively to his eldest son Thomas, second son Achilles and youngest son Kingscote, then to his daughters Martha, Hannah and Elizabeth, and finally to his late brother Henry’s sons Thomas, George, Achilles and Hungerford Daunt. (Will of Thomas Daunt, dated 14 February (1745) 1746, proved 20 February 1748, Consistory Court of Gloucester wills (1745) 1746)

He died 2 February (1748) 1749, Owlpen, and was buried 4 February (1748) 1749, Owlpen (Gloucestershire Parish Registers). A marble wall plaque was erected in Owlpen church with the Daunt arms and an inscription:

Here lyeth the Body of Thomas Daunt Esqr who died Feb 2nd 1748 Aged 73 yrs. He was truly Pious, strictly Just, zealously loyal to his King and Country. Near this place lyeth Milldred, Daughter of the said Thomas Daunt who died Oct 7th 1736 aged 23 years.

Children

Thomas and Elizabeth had at least nine children and at least 12 grandchildren. The order of birth of the sons is given by Thomas’s will; the order of birth of the daughters is uncertain. Thomas’s mother, Martha, left legacies in her will to Thomas and Ann’s four children: Martha, George, Thomas and Achilles, indicating they were born between their parents’ marriage in 1697 and Martha Daunt’s will of March 1710.
